Homeowners fitting their property with new star galaxy granite tiles may wish to consider the requirements of first-time buyers (FTBs).
This is because new data published by unbiased.co.uk has revealed a significant increase in searches for mortgages from this group.
In January 2012, this accounted for 41 per cent of the total searches online, compared with just 36 per cent in December 2011.
Chief executive of the firm Karen Barratt said there is also an increase in loan-to-value mortgages, which is also good news for FTBs.
"Our latest figures reveal that enquiries for FTB advice reached a 23-month high in January, suggesting real momentum in the FTB market and a real consumer demand," she remarked.
This would appear to contradict a recent forecast from chief executive at the National Federation of Property Professionals Peter Bolton King, who stated the housing market will remain flat throughout 2012 due to restricted lending conditions.
