Brits renovating their home with new kitchen tiling may wish to think about fitting neon lights.
This is because designer at NoChintz Katie Crolla claimed this option will be a big hit in 2012.
She explained this can look good in any area of the home and there are also similar considerations for those who find this too adventurous for their tastes.
Accents of these colours can be achieved through certain wallpapers, in addition to being complemented by accessories and furniture.
"Kitsch, neon lighting used in the correct way gives a tongue-in-cheek, modern effect," the expert commented.
If taking this advice, homeowners may also wish to bear in mind the impact it may have on security light fixtures, as spokeswoman for Light IQ Natalie Timmerman said ambient and deterrent lights should not detract from one another.
"Dark grey and brown finishes on cabinet doors and work surfaces, combined with brushed stainless steel work surfaces" were also noted as being in vogue by Ms Crolla.
